Evocative Cornwall update Summer 2026

Image showing a typical Cornish scene in summer specifically a view along the footpath down Cot Valley towards, The Brisons visible in the sea beyond

It has been a little while since we wrote an Evocative Cornwall blog, so it feels about time for an update!  We have been less visible that usual due to personal commitments. However this summer it's all change again and we will be out and about more.

Evocative Cornwall update - Events:

  • What better way to start than with attending the inaugural Fisherman's Friends Festival just up the road at Stithians Showground?  What a weekend it was!  A day and a half caught up in coastal fog (how appropriate!) and the last day in blistering heat.  But throughout it all the warmest welcomes that is a happy festival crowd.  We were based in the craft barn from where we could nip out whenever it was quiet, and hear the swell of music that had grabbed everyone's attention.  But in between times we were busy and enjoyed meeting so many like-minded people - shanty lovers, Kernowphiles, dare I say ageing hippies (or was that just us)?!

EC update - charities:

  • Another highlight this spring was a Beaver Walk at Trewithen with Kernow Conservation, one of our charities this year.  The beavers didn't show, nocturnal as they are, nor did the water voles also released nearby. But we did spot Red Kites and a Hare, both of which were Cornish firsts for us.  The beavers' dam is an impressive structure in a wonderfully tranquil setting, and the experience left us feeling very blessed indeed.

EC update - collaborations:

  • We have taken the step of expanding our collaborations with Cornwall-based photographers. We have been toying with the idea of using some of their images as greetings cards for a while. But it was a comment by a customer last year that helped us decide.  That and their stunning images!  Shout out to Sarah Lay, Geoff Squibb, Janie Smith, Peter Maddern and Chris Fletcher. Do have a look at our new products this year and see what you think.  And do please keep your suggestions coming.

Did I mention the sun has shone?  A glorious day doing deliveries 'Down West' saw us soaking up the beauty of Cape Cornwall and Cot Valley, luckily with camera in hand.  Ewan does love to take a photo of me taking pictures!  Invariably I seem to be pointing the 'wrong' way although I am delighted to see I am wearing my Surfers Against Sewage t-shirt designed by our wrapping paper collaborator, Megan Johnson.

So, that's about it for this Evocative Cornwall update! All in all a busy period doing what we love to do - making connections and sharing the love for this beautiful place, Cornwall our home.

With all good wishes

Pen & Ewan
