I recently spent a few wonderful hours in the all too brief sunshine walking around the dunes on Harvey’s Towans in Hayle. It’s a lovely hidden spot - just a few chalets tucked away – but with the most glorious panoramic view over the Hayle Estuary towards Lelant, Carbis Bay and St Ives in the far distance. For a little while the sun was warm, the sand was golden and the sea and sky a vibrant blue. A few dog walkers could be seen on the huge expanse of beach, as well as a distant group of would be surfers – besides these remote figures, my partner and I had the place to ourselves – bliss! And then the clouds gathered and the rain began to fall – again!
