After many recommendations I went to see the bluebells at Enys near Penryn for the first time last year, thinking ‘yes I’m sure they will be lovely, bluebells always are’. But I was not prepared for that first sight of the Enys bluebells on a sunny day at the peak of their flowering – utterly breath taking in their expanse and beauty, I was speechless as I stood looking at the mass of blue stretching before me, undisturbed since the 12th century I believe.
I returned yesterday, again on a beautiful sunny day and again at the peak of their flowering. I cannot recommend a visit highly enough – and the teas are just as good! If you can’t get there, my 2013 Evocative Cornwall calendar includes an Enys bluebell photo to whet your appetite!
