A new blank greeting card for 2026 - At Readymoney Cove, Fowey - from Evocative Cornwall.

The name 'Readymoney' is evocative in itself, conjuring up as it does images from Daphne du Maurier's local novels of smuggling and mysterious goings on. Slightly disappointingly, however, the derivation is from the original Cornish meaning 'shallow ford with stones'. Research suggests that it was most likely an early spot for trade.

But echoes of the past are not far away. St Catherine's Castle just up the coast path, and the blockhouse opposite at Polruan, hark back to Tudor times

Now a gorgeous, sheltered cove for a swim, within a short stroll of Fowey centre, Readymoney Cove remains popular. The climate is sheltered in the mouth of the estuary and planting on both sides of the river, the azure water and the Italianate architecture of Point Neptune to the left all give the scene a remarkably Mediterranean feel, as a yacht sets off for a day's sailing.

A card that captures the essence of so much of Cornwall's south coast.
